Your drainfield accepts “gray
water” from your septic tank and serves as the point of discharge
of this water back into the ground. The drainfield is the last
step in wastewater treatment in your on-site wastewater system.
It also represents the most expensive single component in your
septic system.
Accordingly, Koberlein strongly suggests that you regularly pump
your septic tank to prevent the flow of solids with the gray water
into the drainfield. Regular pumping of the septic tank
should also be supplemented with use of SEPTA FIELD,
a strong but safe additive that biologically removes solids that
may have reached your drainfield.
If your septic tank has not been pumped regularly, solids are transferred into your drainfield, and you may notice
that your sinks, showers and toilets drain more slowly or you may
notice wet spots in your lawn.
To reclaim failing drainfields, Koberlein utilizes jetting equipment which
forces high pressure water to dislodge embedded solids that reduce
your drainfield’s
performance.
After lines and drainfields are jetted, bioremediation additives
are used by Koberlein to remove those solids and grease particles
that might remain. Usually, Koberlein is able to enhance the performance
of your drainfield through jetting and bioremediation. Often, we
are able to postpone or eliminate the need for an expensive drainfield
replacement.
Before any of this type of work is performed, Koberlein’s technicians
take time with each homeowner to discuss the
various treatment alternatives and to describe the probable end
result.
In those few instances when the drainfield has failed completely
and repair/remediation will not likely restore the drainfield,
Koberlein can replace the failed drainfield at a fair price.
Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or concerns
